What we're about

It's all about taking that first step on the dance floor and having fun. It might be a lesson, a night of social dancing---the most challenging part of this is to just start.

I have a few suggestions:
If you are new to dancing I would suggest trying some of the free lessons that are offered in most clubs in the area. When you have decided what type of dance you would like to learn, find a place that teaches classes, such as a dance studio. Then come back out to do some social dancing.

Dancing, is not a great place for wallflowers. You are probably going to have to get out of your comfort zone and introduce yourself and ladies...you may need to ask men to dance. I know that was a BIG challenge for me. But given the option of dancing, or sitting there alone--always choose dancing.

Put down your phone. I love my smart phone big time. But while you are looking at your phone, a potential dance partner is passing by--a missed opportunity.

If your goal is to meet new friends, volunteer to take a MeetUp sign to the event. It's a great way to meet new people, new dance partners and to build some lifelong friendships.

Add an event to the calendar. There may be others that would like to join you.

JIM WEBER Progressive Double Two Lessons at ELECTRIC COWBOY

Friday night is PROGRESSIVE night! *FREE* lessons with Jim Weber. Doors open at 7:00. No cover before 9:00. The class lasts about an hour, starting with the basic steps, then progressing to more challenging moves with variations. Stay after class and practice what you've learned. It is a good idea to wear comfortable leather soled shoes. Tennis shoes and flip flops make it more difficult to do the steps. Support the venue: In exchange for free cover and free lessons please purchase beverages and don't forget to tip the bartender. When you enter the club, there will be a bar between you and the dance floor. Go to the right of that bar, and our group usually sits at the high-top tables between that bar and the DJ booth. If you have trouble finding us, ask Jim (the instructor) and he can point out Gail or Stephen or Helen.
