Is 2013 your year to dance more?

Chuckling at the subject line of this email.  I could write for spammers with an opening line like that.  This morning when I sat down to welcome the new members I discovered that 50 people have joined this group in the month of January.  I remember how amazed I was when we hit 500 members and we're on track to hit 600 very quickly.

My guess for the sudden jump in membership is that a lot of you out there that have set a goal or a New Year's Resolution to learn to dance. Well good for you!  My goal is to walk 10,000 steps a day and I find that I'd much rather dance those steps than to walk outside in the cold or on a treadmill. I started as a newbie, took that first dance lesson and I was hooked!

Thank you to so many of you who have been adding events and invitations to dance to the calendar.  There are lots of different places to dance, lots of different lessons to take and lots of different types of dancing.  Don't see anything on the calendar that is in your area? Add something!  Don't see anyone posting information about a salsa lesson when you're a salsa dancer? Add something.  It's Texas so country dancing seems to be the dance of choice.  But there are lots of members of this group that do ballroom dancing, latin dancing and even Contra dancing.

When I started this group it was one person..just looking for people to go out and dance and have a little fun.  I actually ended up having a LOT of fun and I've met some really great people who are friends both off and on the dance floor.

Take a chance, step up, add an event....and when you're at the event and looking for a dance partner?  Just ask..male or female you may be surprised at how much time you spend out on the dance floor. (I know that men can be in short supply at times--but you'll sure dance more than sitting at home on your couch!)

I hope your 2013 is off to a great start...keep dancing, or start dancing and above all have fun!
