Mercury Retrograde – it’s not what you think.

A WORKSHOP WITH Victoria Naumann Smoot – astrologer, author, educator.
Mercury – so much can be said about it. That’s exactly what Mercury is about - what we say, what we think and whatever we do in motion, too. Actually, Mercury is the goofy guy in the Solar system just to keep you paying attention to it. So, it is blamed when things don’t work out as we planned, when it goes retrograde. More and more it seems to have been demonized. I have noticed that people who aren’t even astrologers at all talk about Mercury Retrograde as though everybody “knows” that things are going to get screwed up. And Mercury Retrograde is to blame. But this doesn’t seem like the divine purpose of the Messenger of the Gods, to mess things up. Actually, it has a lot to say to us and to teach us, in the Retrograde time, too. We are going to explore the archetypes of Mercury and where they come from. We are going to practice finding where Mercury Retrograde affects our personal charts. We are going to find out that maybe Mercury Retrograde is not what you think it is. Join us. Bring your natal chart and ephemeris, too. We are going to have fun.
Victoria got into astrology when she bought a beautiful book on in 1970, and more books were to follow. She heard Robert Buz Myers talk at Unity Church in Westlake. A consultation began the desire to learn and classes. Soon she was involved with conferences known as WRAC, which began in Westlake, Ohio, coordinating a Keys of astrology beginners track for the conference weekend. She served as Vice President of Aquarian Age astrology group in Fairview Park. For many years, Vicky Smoot, then Vicky Peltz, studied and practiced astrology locally, with consultations, classes and Psychic Fairs at Star Spectrum in Lakewood, Ohio. In 2009, things changed. She attended the ISAR Convention in Chicago after meeting Richard Smoot, ISAR’s Operations Manager at the Temple of Sakkara conference in Allegan, Michigan. After joining ISAR, she had an article in the ISAR Journal and earned her ISAR.CAP (certified astrology professional) within the next six months. She became the editor of the ISAR Journal, and has spoken at Midwest Astrology Conference, the SOTA Conference, and the OPA Retreat in the last two years. Last year, in June, she married Richard Smoot and he moved to Lakewood.
