This talk will focus on puzzle level and mechanics design for “Luna and the Moonling”, a challenging “push block” style puzzle adventure game, and will cover aspects such as; initial product goals and inspirations, designing complimentary puzzle mechanics, difficulty progression, custom Unity editor level creation tools, and balancing progression difficulty. After this talk you should have a good idea of the work involved in designing and creating mechanics and puzzle levels for a quality indie puzzle game for multiple platforms.

Scott Blinn is a veteran of the video game industry of over 20 years of experience working in many game development roles including game design, production, creative director, and studio manager at leading game studios and has worked on award-winning products and franchises such as; System Shock 2, Skylanders, Red Faction, Earth and Beyond, Darkwatch, and The Bourne Conspiracy to name just a few. Scott’s design experience spans everything from mechanics, systems design, and scripting to economies and level design. He was also the inventor and co-creator of two 3D network distributed rendering systems used in games, film, and television, as well as a visual scripting system for Unity called uScript. He recently co-founded Greyborn Studios as the CEO and is the Creative Director on their first indie puzzle game “Luna and the Moonling”, currently available on Steam Early Access.
