LinkedIn’s Centralized Localization Tool (CLT) is a mid-tier service, through which all content will flow for localization. The CLT provides a one-stop shop for our internal localization clients, providing immediate key-value pair translation leverage for software assets, sentence-based translation recycling for non-software content, and machine translation with both general and custom models, depending on the client’s request.
The CLT will leverage string translations directly for immediate return of software assets -- either complete or partial -- and use a Recycling Management System DB to populate new software assets and non-software content with suggested partial matches and/or machine translations. These pre-populated assets are then sent via the TMS agnostic XLFF format, for review and/or post-editing in any TMS.
This allows our language service partners to choose the TMS workbench of their choice, without investing heavily in filtering and format customization on that 3rd party tool. The immediate translation leverage for software assets also significantly reduces the workload on the TMS by filtering out strings and complete assets which historically have consumed the majority of our TMS bandwidth, causing costly performance issues and time-outs.
