Literally lost half of yourself? Was your spouse your best friend? Intensely bonded in thought and feeling, and now gone? Hardly anyone seems to understand that half of you has been ripped out?
We’re not intending to be a guide to dealing with external world issues. Rather, we want to focus on how fortunate we were to have such intensively meaningful relationships. Those who did not really know us as the couple we were say: “Oh, it will pass.” But our special bond makes that loss so emotionally agonizing to deal with. Yet, as we meet those who understand, we could learn together how to reshuffle our lives into new friendships and discovery of other types of meaningfulness.
