1st Friday's at the Natural History Museum. It's Music 'n' Dino's & More

Details
First Fridays: The Natural History Museum stays open late with live indie music, museum tours, booze, geeky science lectures, food trucks etc. You are free to wander around the museum all night -- the dinosaurs and the gem collections
May's First Fridays has an awesome lineup of bands, DJs, discussions, food trucks, delicious cocktails, and more. Get ready to experience the museum after hours.
This year's First Fridays explores Forces of Nature. We'll find facts and bust myths about our four horsemen of the Golden State apocalypse: fire, drought, flood and earthquakes. In May, we get swept away with California's floods.
5:30 pm 7:30 pm Conversations SECRETS FROM THE VAULTS
If you could ask curators about their strangest or most valued artifacts, what would they divulge? Join science correspondent and host of VOA-Tek, Dr. Crystal Dilworth, as she asks Museum research specialists about their collections and discovers details hidden in plain sight. Each month features a different expert to uncover the big mysteries, strange oddities, and untold stories from NHM.
6:30 pm Discussion H2-UH-OH - with Dr. Daniel Swain and William Deverell, moderated by Patt Morrison
About 15 million years ago, Los Angeles was at the bottom of the ocean. Climate change means land that’s been high and dry for millennia is getting inundated by water again. What do terms like “500-year flood” mean when we have one every ten years? And what can engineering do to make Southern California’s new floodplains survivable?

ALCOHOL+ FOOD TRUCKS: There are 2 bars setup for this event, one in the main lobby, the other in the Mammal/Concert Hall
Usually 3-5 food trucks are camped outside.
PARKING: Parking onsite is an outrageous $15. Carpool, take the Metro (the Expo/Vermont Station is across the street) or there is FREE street parking across Vermont Ave in the residential area (read the signs).
Tix are $20 and do sell out.
This event is always fun but a bit decentralized and fluid.
What does that even mean?
It means that not all get there at the same time. So the event starts with a few there early who post location and then as people get there they join and it grows. At times a second hub develops or third. It all depends.
The main thing is those there early don't just sit and wait. They start having fun. Then others join.
There is one other new update on the group . . . there is a NEW event that is on the same date and time. https://www.meetup.com/IWantToDoThat/events/260845764/
Mix and Mingle cocktail mixer at The Velveteria Museum. It also cost's $20. But does not rove about. The $20 does include drinks also.
So now you have choices too!!
Both events will be fab and fun.
First Fridays will repeat (it does monthly). And does start early at 5PM
Velveteria does start at 8PM. So a good option due to the later start time.
As your parents say . . . Make good choices!!!
