Using the Business Model Canvas as Your Road Map to Commercialization

Details
Join us for this Meetup as we demystify the startup process through the use of Lean Startup up tools. Kurt Heiar, a serial entrepreneur, will walk you through the Business Model Canvas and how to develop your startup around customer’s input and business model validation. This process has been used for years in Silicon Valley to quickly pinpoint an idea and de-risk the startup process.
Bio: Kurt Heiar is a University of Iowa faculty lecturer, lead Instructor for UI’s Venture School Program, and serial entrepreneur, focusing in the bioinformatics, pharmaceutical, and medical service industries. The Quad Cities Cohort of the Venture School will begin February 21, 2017 at EICC in Davenport, with the application deadline being February 6, 2017 at midnight.
Kurt has been the President & CEO of 3 companies to date, where he has raised capital, led a successful acquisition of his company, and created strategic global relationships. In addition, Kurt has spent the last two summers in Greece, leading an entrepreneurial training project, and co-developing Greece's first Venture Capital Fair. This year, Kurt was elected as a Board member of the Anatolia College Business program in Greece.
In addition, Kurt served as VP of Marketing, North America Biosciences, as Director Global Business Development, Immunotherapy, and as a Global Marketing Manager for Baxter Healthcare. Kurt served as the four year Chair of the Iowa Business Council’s Entrepreneurial Formation effort, was the first Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Iowa State University Research Foundation, and as a board member of the Iowa Biotech Association.
