Attracting and Retaining Your Talent - Hosted by Gentzy Franz
Details
Ask any small business owner out there and they will tell you that the hardest part no one thinks about is recruiting talent.
Sure your company is amazing, but when everyone’s idea is out there and they all need people, how does your niche idea stand out? And, once you get great people at your company, how do you make them stay? We are entrepreneurs after all.
Having a great HR presence is the make or break of many early stage startups and it is one effort that is often left out. Even if you can’t afford a full team to handle every effort, building the right foundation ahead of time and knowing what works will save your company headaches down the line.
This month, we’re proud to have Gentzy Franz (https://www.linkedin.com/in/gentzfranz) (Illini PHD ’14) speak about recruiting at a startup and how to set up your employees for success. When you’re first building out your HR policies, what needs to be focused on and what really works?
Gentzy is a doctorate from the Illinois School of Labor Relations and has been on the HR team of GE, the Chief Development officer at U of I and is a lecturer on campus regarding employee motivation. He currently is Uptake (http://uptake.com/)’s Director of People and happens to know a thing or two about how to get people in the door and stay happy at niche startups.
So if your company is currently struggling to keep talent, or if you’re worried about stagnating growing, this is the MeetUp you need to attend. Bring your questions because we’re going to cover way more than making a profile on CareerBuilder.
Drinks and food are on us, so come stop by to meet fellow Illini and learn about how the University of Illinois is leading the startup space in Chicago.
If you would like to have your office featured on the Illini Showcase, please reach out to one of the co-organizers online or at the event
