DevOps 101 - Deploying Scalable Services with Infrastructure-As-Code (IaC)

Details
Get started with DevOps with this two hour practical workshop -- the first collaboration between Boston DevOPs and Inclusive Tech Lab Boston!
Cloud computing enables unprecedented levels of scale, provided that an organization first architects its applications to take advantage of the benefits the cloud offers. Doing so is often not straightforward -- many “cloud-native” applications are managed similarly to data-center-bound applications, belying the benefits that the cloud offers.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will be exposed to some of the most basic but crucial concepts of building and deploying cloud-scale systems. Concepts visited will include containers, managed services, repeatability, and horizontal scalability. The workshop is relevant to many different stacks, but will leverage specific tools such as Docker, Packer, Terraform, and Amazon Web Services to offer teachable examples of each concept.
The end goal will be a familiar trope -- delivering a blog -- but with a focus on using cloud-first tools to do so.
A huge, huge thanks to Klaviyo for hosting and providing refreshments!
