What types of games do you like to make? What type do you play if any?

I want to work on at least one game in every genre. Puzzle games, platformers, RPG, RTS, FPS, sandbox, racing games, etc, as well as games that don't fit easily into one established category. I'd like to make games that combine the best of modern and retro sensibilities and aesthetics, as well as push into unexplored areas. These days I'm really into the Metal Gear and Assassin's Creed series. Some of my other favorites include the Starcraft, Final Fantasy, Bioshock, Half Life, and Portal games. I'm also interested in MMOs and other "shared open world" games from a conceptual standpoint, but don't have the time to invest in playing them. I also love a lot of the classics, like the Castlevania, Metroid, and Zelda games.

Do you make games full time or part time?

I am not currently employed in the game industry. Most recently, I have been working primarily in medical illustration and web design. I've also been developing several plugins for 3D Studio Max.

What skills do you have pertaining to game development? (Programming languages, artistic talents, animation, game design, etc...)

I have extensive training as both a 2D and 3D artist, and am a professional expert on anatomy. I work primarily in 3DS Max and ZBrush, but have also used other 3D art programs. I have some experience as an actionscript programmer, which I have used primarily for multimedia, but which can also be applied to developing Flash games, or menus and interfaces for other games. I have dabbled with C-based programming languages and Visual Basic, but would not call myself proficient. I also have a strong background in writing and storytelling, which I have applied in everything from short stories to comic book and television scripts. I can generate game design documents of varying levels of complexity as needed.

If you are not making or playing a game, what do you do with your time? What other hobbies or activites do you particapate in?

I'm a big time movie watcher. I also like comics and anime, though I am very particular in my tastes. I actually enjoy watching other people play games as well (i.e. speed runs, commentated Starcraft 2 replays, etc.)

Introduction

I have a degree from the Ai program for Game Art and Design. I have interned and done freelance work, but have not been able to get a permanent job in the industry, so I am giving serious thought to taking the indie route.
