What we're about

Welcome to our Travel Club! We are an international community of travellers, based on Athens, eager to explore as much as possible the sights and experiences that our wondrous planet has to offer. Our campsite is open for everyone to share information, stories and ideas about travelling Further of the Horizon, as near or as far as the heart desires.

We organise several travel-related events each month, plus the occasional party:

- Traveller's Pub: Socialise with fellow travellers and exchange travel tales.
- Traveller's Lunchbox: Taste different world cuisines or local Greek delicacies.
- Traveller's Path: Urban walks discovering the Athenian neighbourhoods.
- Traveller's Trail: Short nature hikes in the nearby mountains of Attica.
- Traveller's Daytrip/Holidays: Single/multi-day trips to explore the Greek countryside and islands.
- Traveller's Quest: Adventure game day trips with travel-related scenarios.
- Traveller's Lounge: Our weekly Flipboard magazine and radio show (currently on hiatus).

Our experienced team also designs custom trips to every corner of the world, part of our "Around the World in 80 Trips" programme, allowing travellers to discover new destinations at affordable costs. Some of our top destinations include:
- Cuba
- Iceland
- Morocco
- Tanzania
- India
- Sri Lanka
- Indonesia
and many more!

Indie Horizons has an annual membership tip of 2€, to help us cover our organisational costs, which is paid at the first event of the year a traveller participates (on top of the event's fee, if any).

The Traveller's Culture, Athens War Museum

Athens War Museum

Broaden your mind and be a citizen of the world! Join us for a visit to museums, exhibitions or performances, discovering history, culture and ideas! "Modern Greek Tales" Athens War Museum (daily[masked], 3€) free entrance: 1st Sunday of every month Built in 1975, the imposing War Museum of Athens is mainly dedicated to the modern military history of Greece, especially the Independence War [masked]), the Balkan Wars [masked]), the two World Wars, and the Civil War [masked]). It sheds light into the modern history of the country, the conflicts that shaped its current borders, and the reasons behind them, so it’s far more interesting that a mere collection of rusty swords and armours. Unfortunately, most of the information provided is in Greek. Its back alley features several aircraft (even a biplane!) to the enjoyment of children of all ages. The museum is managed by the Greek Air force, and it has a very cool canteen outside, set on a 1958 French military vehicle! https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g189400-d498309-Reviews-War_Museum-Athens_Attica.html Meeting point: Right outside the museum's main entrance, on Rizari street Participation fee: Free! Would you like to (re)discover some amazing favourite parts of our beloved city? Join us on a refreshing outdoor adventure, exploring the surrounding Attica mountains! *** All our hiking events are dog friendly! *** Despite being ravaged by many fires, the northern side of mount Penteli still retains its pine forests, with a rather short but beautiful trail passing by several small chapels (Prophet Elias, St. Nikitas, St. Loukas, and St. Panteleimon at the top), on the way to the lower peak @876m. Mind that it’s a steady and rather steep ascend (393m/2.2km, 19% incline). Those looking for a harder hike, they can continue all the way to Pyrnari peak @1108m (+4.5km/2hr, 259m ascent).
