Homebrew Website Club - Busy Holiday Version

Details

We all know holiday schedules can be tough, particularly for driving around town in heavy traffic, and making all the holiday parties you want to attend, so for our mid-month meeting and to keep building on our IndieWebCamp momentum from November, we'll be testing out hosting our first virtual meetup using Google Hangouts. If you don't have a Google account yet, you've got some time to sign up and get things squared away to participate.

If you'd like to do a micro-meetup in person with others in the LA area, feel free to list a public address in the comments below and have others join you. Otherwise, grab a mug of warm cheer at your favorite location and log in remotely.

The added benefit of this is that we'll also be open to several other IndieWebbers in other cities who can also join us remotely as well!

Overview

Join some like-minded people in building and updating your personal website.

• Finish that blog post you’ve been working on

• See Demos of recent IndieWeb breakthroughs

• Share what you’ve gotten working

• Ask the experts questions

• Seen something on someone else's site you want? Ask for ideas on how to help make it a reality on yours.

Join a community with like-minded interests. Bring friends that want a personal web site!

All levels are welcome, so whether you're just getting started with your first website or whether you've got the basics down and are moving into intermediate or advanced territory, you're welcome to attend! Beginners are especially encouraged to attend and participate - it will really help you to grasp new concepts and push your skills to the next level.

HWC meetups are relaxed and informal and are intended as a way for our community to work and play together while providing each other with ongoing support and feedback. Hang out with like-minded hackers for an evening. We're very friendly and would love to have you join us!

How to Participate

You'll need a computer with an internet connection and a Google account to log into Hangouts to participate. We should have a Hangouts invite link set up shortly, so check back here to log into the actual meeting.

Also, bring questions, ideas, the "itches (https://indieweb.org/itches)" you're working on, project ideas you'd like to tackle, anything!

Questions?

We're here to help! If you have any questions or anything you'd like to discuss, please contact us. You can comment below, on the discussion page here on Meetup.com, or ask questions in our 24/7/365 chat here (https://indiewebcamp.com/irc/today#bottom). (You can even think of the chat as a live on-going HWC meeting if you're excited to begin working on something right away.)

As always, anyone is welcome to attend our events/meetings - we are an inclusive group. All attendees are expected to abide by the IndieWeb Code of Conduct (https://indieweb.org/code-of-conduct).
