About us
This group is for people interested in all things InfoSec.
We'll meet monthly, socialize regularly and network extensively.
I created this group because I know there are plenty of us (security pros and people interested in infosec) in the Hamilton area and we lack a way to get together, talk shop and share our knowledge on a regular basis.
Whether you are a seasoned pro, a newbie (students and life-long learners are all welcome) or someone in need of security services (business owners, CEOs, CIOs, etc.), you are all encouraged to attend.
Get togethers are held the second Monday of each month (except when a holiday interferes, in which case we'll shift one week before or after accordingly).
Speaking suggestions: We are always looking for interesting speakers and topics. If you have something in mind, please send a note to toddhdow@gmail.com with subject line "InfoSec Hamilton - speaking suggestion".

InfoSec Hamilton Monthly Meetup for May 2026

7:45 - intermission
8pm - continue talk / social time
9pm - wrap upSession description:
Cyberattacks and nondigital events (such as power outages, fires, floods, or bad weather) don’t just break code or take servers down; they ripple into the real world. In hospitals, where Andrew works, cyber incidents have forced ambulances to be diverted, delayed surgeries, and pushed staff back into paper charts and manual work, which can slow care and increase risk. At the same time, physical events can knock out data centers, kill power to critical systems, and leave teams scrambling with paper, phones, and spreadsheets for days. For IT folks, this session is about stepping back from “systems up vs down” and seeing downtime as a whole organization problem. It shows why cyber resilience, emergency planning, facilities, and IT all need to sit at the same table so that uptime, backups, and recovery actually support critical operations, safety, and day to day work; instead of just looking good on a dashboard.
