Been too long since the last meet-up (a testament to the summer I suppose) so I'd like to get started with what will be a series of talks and hack-days to take us through the autumn and winter.
We've already got talks lined up around Docker integration and master-less Salt, but to start us off, Owain Perry has kindly volunteered to share his experiences of Windows automation with Chef at the trainline.com. Owain will cover topics ranging from their automated development build environment, cookbook build automation and CI with GO as well as his general successes and failures in automation.
Windows: most of us would rather avoid it, yet most of us have to live with it. Support for Windows within infrastructure automation tools always runs a poor second to Linux so I'm keen to hear about Owain's experiences here.
In Owain's words: "A brief history of windows infrastructure automation at the thetrainline.com (http://thetrainline.com/), where we started, what we are doing now and where we think we want to be, using Chef, VMWare, power-shell plus a few other tools."
