Workshop: Automate DNS and Certificate management on Azure with Azure DevOps

Link visible for attendees

Dear community,

Welcome to the next workshop at the series of IaC workshops!

Important!

For this workshop you will need a domain name. This is unfortunately a must. If you're planning to learn or use publicly facing Azure products that requires custom domains, it will be a good investment to have a domain name that you can use for testing purposes.
If you already own a domain name, you can use it and transfer it to Azure DNS as part of the workshop. But I would recommend to use a new domain.
You can search and buy a domain name from accredited domain registrars for very little cost. For example, if you buy foo-bar.eu from GoDaddy now, it will cost you less than $3 for 1 year and you can find even cheaper options. You can always cancel yearly payment for the domain if you don't want to pay for it anymore.

Agenda

This time we will look at different aspects of automating DNS and certificate management on Azure with Azure DNS Zone, keyvault-acmebot and Azure DevOps and you will learn:

  • How to delegate domain to Azure DNS Zone
  • How to automate DNS records management with Azure DevOps
  • What options are available on Azure to maintain SSL certificates
  • How to automate Let's Encrypt certificate management with keyvault-acmebot

and many many more...

Workshop is organized as a combination of theoretical blocks with slides and hand-on labs. The preliminary agenda will be available at this link.

Estimated time for workshop completion is between 3 and 4 hours.

Prerequisites

Please spend some time before the workshop and make sure that you have installed/registered/configured all prerequisites.

You'll need:

  • Domain name
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Visual Studio Code with Bicep plugin
  • Windows Terminal (for those of you who are on Windows)
  • active Azure account
  • Azure DevOps organization with test Project
  • az cli
  • git

Looking forward to meeting you!
