What we're about

If you are deep in the throes of a writing project (whether your first or 100th), hungry for information about getting that final draft published in print or audio - and keen to develop your author profile, then join us. I’m Maria, a fellow writer working in community radio and started this group in January 2020 at Marrickville Library. I also produce a radio program on Radio 2RPH called New Voices - which interviews writers from this group. Now working on my second novel, I have only just realised (slow learner, but, hey, writing seemed to be the key thing) the importance of building your author profile, and being more informed about the publishing world.
If you are writing, or are a keen listener wanting to hear new writers knock out that next section of work, then this group is for you. A regular group can help you get traction on your work, keep inspired, and get/give good constructive feedback. Plus this group intends to create a hub of activity and information/skill exchange for all of us to help each other on the writing journey. Being chosen to be interviewed on Radio 2RPH to discuss your work is great practise for when you get published (see Spotify link below!), and there is a chance to contribute an author profile page on a dedicated website. All free - all self-help. Marrickville Library kindly provided us with a gorgeous room to hold these weekly group meet-ups for writers working on their projects, however since COVID we have been meeting weekly by ZOOM. Weekly updates will let you know whenever these restrictions ease up. Very soon we will be offering the opportunity to audio-book your work at the radio station. Feel free to contact me - Maria - if you have any questions: missaris@2rph.org.au. And here is the Spotify link for New Voices:

Inner West Writers Group - Write Club

Marrickville Library and Pavilion

Hello fellow writers in Sydney! This new group started in January 2020 in a beautiful private room granted by Marrickville Library.

Since onset of new COVID Lockdown (July and August, possibly September 2021), we are continuing to meet by ZOOM. The group is flourishing! You will need to RSVP by Wednesday of each week for the following Saturday so we can organise the right number of Zoom rooms to ensure good quality feedback. RSVP's will receive the link.

The intention is to give a supportive environment to get traction on your writing project, gain useful feedback, and exchange writing and publishing information with each other. Plus a writer from the group will be chosen to be interviewed on 2RPH radio program for emerging writers called ‘New Voices’ (finalist in Best New Program 2020 at the Community Broadcasting Association Awards).

So come along, bring up to 1500 to 2000 words of your latest writing - fiction writers of all types, memoirists, biographers, graphic novelists, bloggists - all writers welcome. You will have up to ten minutes to read out your work, and ten minutes of constructive critique and feedback from the rest of the group. If you want a tribe of fellow writers to be with you as you finish your writing project, build your author profile, want to get inspired by other writers, or want to just listen and give constructive feedback (we all need beta readers), you are very welcome. This is a free event! Many thanks to Marrickville Library! And here is Spotify link for New Voices program:
