What we're about

If you are deep in the throes of a writing project (whether your first or 100th), hungry for information about getting that final draft published in print or audio - and keen to develop your author profile, then join us. I’m Maria, a fellow writer working in audiobook production (www.audiobooksradio.com.au), with a radio and journalist background, and I started this group in January 2020 at Marrickville Library. I also produced a radio program on Radio 2RPH called New Voices - which interviewed writers from this group. Now working on my second novel, I have only just realised (slow learner, but, hey, writing seemed to be the key thing) the importance of building your author profile, and being more informed about the publishing world.
If you are writing, or are a keen listener wanting to hear new writers knock out that next section of work, then this group is for you. A regular group can help you get traction on your work, keep inspired, and get/give good constructive feedback. Plus this group has created a hub of activity and information/skill exchange for all of us to help each other on the writing journey. All free - all self-help.
Marrickville Library kindly provided us with a gorgeous room to hold these weekly group meet-ups for writers working on their projects, however since COVID we have been meeting also by ZOOM. Weekly updates will let you know where and how we are holding then sessions.  Feel free to contact me - Maria - or co-organiser Maree Walk if you have any questions: maria@audiobooksradio.com.au; mareewalk@gmail.com. Inner West Writers Group - Write Club

Marrickville Library and Pavilion

General Info
Hello fellow writers in Sydney! This new group started in January 2020 in a beautiful private room granted by Marrickville Library.

Since onset of new COVID Lockdown, we have continued to meet by ZOOM. And most recently - we are meeting in person fortnightly at the Library, with alternate weeks via Zoom. To keep up to date - sign up and receive our messages!

The group is flourishing! You will need to RSVP each week for the following Saturday so we can organise the right number of Zoom rooms and Library space to ensure good quality feedback. RSVP's will receive the link.

The intention is to give a supportive environment to get traction on your writing project, gain useful feedback, and exchange writing and publishing information with each other.

So come along, bring up to 1500 to 2000 words of your latest writing - fiction writers of all types, memoirists, biographers, graphic novelists, bloggists - all writers welcome. You will have up to ten minutes to read out your work, and ten minutes of constructive critique and feedback from the rest of the group. If you want a tribe of fellow writers to be with you as you finish your writing project, build your author profile, want to get inspired by other writers, or want to just listen and give constructive feedback (we all need beta readers), you are very welcome. This is a free event! Many thanks to Marrickville Library!

To register your interest or and for more information, contact Maria, [masked], or Maree Walk, [masked].
