Welcome!

The Northwest Phoenix Insight Meditation group is continuing meditation practice and Dhamma teachings during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our community and activities are based in the tradition and teachings of Insight/Vipassana meditation. Our virtual program is designed to reach out and provide you with what you need for your practice while staying at home. We have created activities that will enhance your practice such as a book club and meditation and Dhamma study sessions.

Our practice serves a community of learning and developing the skillful use of meditation practice that leads to awareness in all aspects of individual, family, work, and community life. This group is appropriate for beginning meditators as well as experienced practitioners.

We meet every Wednesday for a book study and every Saturday for a 35-minute sit to practice Vipassana or Insight meditation.

Our program is free and open to the public. We operate on the principle of dana. Dana is a Buddhist word that means generosity of heart. This means our programs are sustained by the generosity of our members offering teachings freely and by the generosity of the members receiving the teachings in the form of financial support, service and participation.

ONLINE Wednesday evening MEDITATION AND BOOK STUDY

Online event

We meet online on Zoom every Wednesday for a 20-minute community-led sit followed by our continuing study of Jack Kornfield's "The Wise Heart: A Guide to the Universal teachings of Buddhist Psychology".

We take turns reading from the book with pauses for reflection and discussion. You don't need a book in order to participate and no need to read the book beforehand. This is a drop-in class and you can join for any session.

Please join us for both Vipassana meditation and the book study on Wednesdays.

ONLINE Saturday Afternoon Vipassana "Mindfulness" Meditation

We meet for a community-led sit from 2:00- 3:00PM every Saturday afternoon to practice meditation in the Buddhist tradition. Our meditation style is 'Vipassana' which is also known as Mindfulness Meditation. Community-led sits include a reading, basic instruction and a silent 35-minute sit.
