The pundits and gurus tell us we must all become enlightened and the world will change. Unfortunately, development is hard. We are embedded in our micro-culture, which continues to pull us back to what is familiar. Current life conditions no longer allow us to remain comfortably in our cultural cocoon. Our social and political structures can no longer cope with the complexity of modern life. Change in inexorable; if not in a positive direction, then via collapse under the burden of unsustainable practices.
Dr. Beck has studied change in the face of conflict for over 40 years. His model helps us understand the play between our inner and outer worlds that either facilitates or impedes personal and collective change. We will examine the types of change and our own readiness for change in the context of our Houston life conditions. Bring your own Change State Indicator results and come prepared for a lively discussion.
