What we're about

A group of men and women who enjoy mostly sailing in the United States and worldwide. From novices to seasoned captains, we are kindred spirits that enjoy our time on the water and seek same like minded people to come together for a common goal of friendship and boating.

Our Meet-Ups take place all over the world aboard luxury yachts. We sail places including Cuba, Abaco Islands, Grenadines, British and Spanish Virgin Islands, Greece and Croatia. You get the idea! Locations and dates will be listed here. We encourage you to join to be the first to know about upcoming trips! They do fill up quickly.

Near or far, please join our group, to stay up to date on offerings. Sailing charter opportunities will be posted here. Send me a message on sailing adventures on your bucket list! Captain Joy is a seasoned captain with thousands of sailing miles under her. She's led over twenty sailing charters around the world...you're in good hands.

In the summers Capt. Joy offers huge discounts aboard her vessel Pure Joy (located in Westbrook, CT) usually on Monday or Tuesday after work sessions. Brush up on your sailing skills, meet new friends, play with Scupper The Boat Dog (https://www.facebook.com/Scuppertheboatdog/) !

(The summer sails usually fill up so register early. Attendee count online is not reflective of actual.)

Let's explore a "boat on the hard" (on land)

Brewers Pilots Point Marina North Yard

Boating season is almost here! Ever been curious of what's underneath the boat? We'll explore the bottom of Pure Joy and other boats nearby for comparison, and talk about what's involved with winterizing a boat and opening the boat in the spring. Bring your questions and curiosity. Good for new boaters, boat owners and anyone curious about what it takes to own a boat. Capt. Joy has been around boats for a loooong time. She's here to help you with any questions. Afterwards the plan is to go to Bill's Seafood to continue the conversation and get to know fellow members. Driving rain will cancel the boat exploration but we can still meet at Bills. Free to all our meetup members and one guest. Please RSVP. When you come into the NORTH yard, drive towards the river. The boat is across from the restrooms.

Presentation with author Jason Smith "To Master The Boundless Sea"

Shoreline Sailing Club welcomes Jason Smith for a talk on his new book "To Master The Boundless Sea". As the United States grew into an empire in the late nineteenth century, notions like “sea power” derived not only from fleets, bases, and decisive battles but also from a scientific effort to understand and master the ocean environment. Beginning in the early nineteenth century and concluding in the first years of the twentieth, Jason W. Smith tells the story of the rise of the U.S. Navy and the emergence of American ocean empire through its struggle to control nature. In vividly told sketches of exploration, naval officers, war, and, most significantly, the ocean environment, Smith draws together insights from environmental, maritime, military, and naval history, and the history of science and cartography, placing the U.S. Navy’s scientific efforts within a broader cultural context. Jason will have copies of his book on sale. This special event is open to all. Shoreline Sailing Club welcomes all couples and singles for this presentation. Drink: Cash Bar before and during the meeting.

Greece - Ionian Islands - 1st week - FULL. (Contact Joy for future dates).

We just added this second week! Ionian islands are the perfect cruising ground! Green wooded islands rise out of sparkling blue sea, and the weather is invariably good throughout the summer months. The afternoon breeze makes it an ideal area for sailing and there are many places of historic interest to visit. Here, too, are quiet sandy beaches in picturesque coves where you can anchor for a stroll in the cool shade of an olive grove, or enjoy an afternoon of water sports such as swimming, snorkeling or windsurfing. In the evenings you can tie up on the quay at one of a number of holiday resorts in the area such as Nidri or Parga and join in the nightlife there, or if you prefer you can visit a small village and sample traditional Greek hospitality at a local tavern. Summer nights in Greece are quite magical and what better way to enjoy them than a glass of your favorite beverage and a quiet beach to look at the stars. Sample Itinerary (subject to change due to weather, etc) Lefkas Town (Lefkas Island) Lefkada is a very pleasant, friendly, typical Greek town. It is an ideal place to start a sailing holiday due to its proximity to the airport, the number of markets to provision your yacht and a selection of good bars and restaurants. Day 1 - Nikiana (Lefkas Island) Nikiana offers a charming over night stop. It's a small fishing harbour with a few tavernas nearby. Day 2 - Sivota (Lefkas Island) Sivota is a gem. Located on the South East of Lefkas Island (and not to be confused with Sivota Mourtos in the north Ionian), this picturesque harbour has a range of tavernas and bars circling a long concrete quay. Day 3 - Ayia Euphemia (Kefalonia Island) Ayia Euphemia (Saint well-spoken of) lies on the East coast of the island of Kefalonia, 10 miles South of the harbour of Fiskardo. Considerable investment has been made refurbishing the quay here, including installing water and electricity points all the way along. Ashore there is an excellent bakery, several provisions stores and restaurants. Day 4 - Sami (Kefalonia Island) The port of Sami lies on the East coast of the island of Kefalonia in Greece, 13 miles SSE of Fiskardo and just over four miles SE of Ayia Eufimia. From here it is possible to visit the Cave of Melissani, an underground lake fed by a subterranean stream which flows all the way across the island from Argostoli. Day 5 - Kastos (Kastos Island) The small Greek island of Kastós lies 10 miles SE of the island of Lefkas. There is just one settlement, on the SE side of the island, which has a small harbour offering good shelter from most directions. The primary attraction of Kastos is the beaches down its eastern side, which are perfect for anchoring, swimming and lunching. There is little else to do in Kastos except chill out under the Greek sun with a drink in hand. Day 6 - Spartachori (Meganissi Island) Spartachori is a lovely village located on a cliff above Port Spilia on Meganisi Island. It’s well worth the hike up to the village, which retains its old world charm. Day 7 - Lefkas Town (Lefkas Island) Just as it was a great place to start, Lefkas Town is also a great place to finish. There are plenty of bars and restaurants we recommend you check out Price per person (double occupancy) $1640 Price includes: 6 night accommodations on board in a double occupancy cabin Breakfast and most lunches and 2 or 3 dinners aboard.
