I was born on the French West Indian island of Guadeloupe -- I lived there for the first five and a half years of my life. The next five and a half were spent a little bit further north on the French side of the island of St. Martin. I emigrated to the US at eleven years of age -- my family and I settled in eastern Pennsylvania. Seven years later, the Orlando area became my new home, and I've been here ever since.
My background is in the sales/consulting realm. Currently, my day job entails helping consumers reduce their interest rates on their credit cards.
I'm joining this group because I see it as a great way to reconnect with my roots. Even though I've lived in the US for nearly 19 years and have come to feel very comfortable here, at heart, I will forever remain an internationalist. This would also be great way to maintain and strengthen my French speaking skills. Rubbing shoulders with speakers of other languages -- Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German, Chinese, etc... -- is another incentive.
I enjoy clubbing, watching European football (soccer) on television, wine tasting, etc... I'm keen on trying new things like sky diving, baking bread, making jewelry, and so forth.
No introduction yet
This was my first ever meetup, and I had an enjoyable time. Until meeting Belinda and Maud at the Orlando Young Professionals event last week, I had no either that something like this existed. What an electic group of people and quite a number of francophones!
