Announcing Part 2 of the "RTOS and Micro-controllers" meetup.

The previous FreeRTOS meetup was so interactive that only a part of the content could be covered. This is a follow-up meetup to cover the rest of the interesting details of FreeRTOS and micro-controllers. So instead of waiting for an entire month, we are doing this meetup in a couple of weeks on 9th June.

Discussions of the first part of the meetup are captured here: https://medium.com/@kewal.m.shah/731a5af183fd
-----------------------------%<--------------------------%<------------------------

This time we are talking about the popular FreeRTOS real time kernel for embedded systems.

(1) Why use an RTOS? What’s wrong with my “baremetal” approach?

(2) How does an OS work?

  • threads/tasks, timers, networking stack, queues/mutexes/semaphores

(3) Porting

  • Alternatives to FreeRTOS (μC/OS, NuttX, Mynewt, Zephyr)

We will have multiple demos as part of the session.

Attendees are encouraged to bring and show off their own work at the meetup. Please leave a comment below if you'd like to show a demo and we can add it here!

Tea and coffee will be available at the venue.
