As internet technology advances and everything becomes evermore interconnected for the convenience of users, so should privacy-focused technology keep up with the pace. Yet, privacy technology can't work on autopilot without users' understanding. Even the highest security measures fail against con men known as "social engineers".
I am a web developer who specializes in security issues. In this group I would like to raise awareness about various kind of internet attacks that have been devised.
Understanding them has several benefits. First of all, it will help you to evade them. Second, understanding how they work would give you a better understanding of how the internet works.
Both engineers and regular users are welcome to join this group. The information presented will be interesting and palatable to both. If you are a security expert or a hobbyist, you are welcome to do a presentation as well.
The format in these meetings will be a presentation followed by a Q&A discussion. I will do most of the presentations, but if you would like to present yourself, please contact me with a proposal.
