Re: [Interstellar-Travel-100-Year-Starship] Warp Field Research (meetup: message 1 of 20)

For the record, I have a printout of the Thorne paper which outlines how the Type II civilization would construct the wormhole pair I just described.  If I remember, I'll look up the periodical name and issue number for others to retrieve.  I have a copy of his Gravatation beomoth text book too but have yet to crack it.  I studied 3 years of undergraduate physics but we never went into tensor math but in general tensor s are force matrices and in a sense are matrices of matrices, so in 4-Spacetime you end up with 16×16 entries, which is a real monster to multiply the Ricci Tensor and the Metric Tensor.

I say get on it Chris, you seem to be a bit further along than those of us in still in the minors.  Be pleased to help if I can, not sure exactly how though.  Maybe pick you up a six pack and some tuna.
-If Dr. Liang is listening, would you be interested in trying to help us grapple with this?  Anybody else with skills out there?
-Some guy mentioned tensor algebra.  Do you know anything about it?  If so, would you be willing to try to get a coalition of the willing started on it (say presuming we have calculus, maybe a smattering of diff eqs)?
I suggest that Chris, Cameron et al take a crack at putting a starting point together; the interesterati do our best to take it in; we meet and talk it over; then see what else.  I'd be willing to help plan and organize the proceedings, feel free to give me a call,[masked]-1726.

@ cameron: I'd be interested in putting some introductory material together on the topic. Let me know if y'all get together on that topic.
