Inverness Young Walkers is your passport to exploring Scotland's great outdoors on foot with like-minded people.
The group is aimed primarily at people over 18 and in their 20s, 30s and into their 40s. We arrange walks around Inverness and further afield; either car sharing or using public transport to get there. This new group is a part of Ramblers Scotland which aims to promote walking throughout Scotland. You can find out more here (https://www.ramblers.org.uk/scotland.aspx)
The group will organise not only walking meets but a variety of social events too. So if you are looking to have fun, get fit, and meet a welcoming bunch of people, then this is the ideal group for you!
Please note: All members should take responsibility for their own well-being and safety while on the walks. All members attending any hill walks should have a good pair of walking boots, waterproofs, rucksack and warm layers as a minimum. The weather in Scotland is highly unpredictable and you should come prepared for all weather conditions. If you are unsure about what is needed, please contact the walk leader.
No shows/wait list
it is likely that we will have members signed up to a waiting list for some events. Therefore we would request that you think in advance about whether you can attend a walk, and, if you cannot, change your RSVP as soon as possible - preferably several days before.
this is a Ramblers group. We offer three trial walks to let you see if the group is for you. and as such we ask people who wish to walk with the group regularly to join as a member.
After you've completed the three trial walks or less you are invited to become a Ramblers member. This allows continued access to the IYWs events programme as well as associated Ramblers membership benefit; including navigation training, first aid courses and Walk Leadership training.
As a member you can join in any Ramblers Group walk (there are thousands each year) and you will have the opportunity to come along to our Ramblers organised weekends away. In addition, there is a magazine 4 times a year, organised skills training such as first aid and navigation, and a discount at Cotswold Outdoor. New people to the group can come three times before deciding if they want to join. Please let one of our organisers know if you are already a Ramblers member. You can join online by visiting Ramblers Scotland page (https://www.ramblers.org.uk/become-a-member/join-us.aspx)
Photographs which are published on Meetup may be used on Social Media sites and for marketing purposes so if you are uncomfortable with this, please ensure you get in touch with one of our organisers.
