What we're about

For good or bad, the Matrix is coming. The Internet of Things. IoT. What is it and why does it matter?

According to Global Standards Initiative, IoT is the global infrastructure for the information society, enabling advanced services by interconnecting (physical and virtual) things based on existing and evolving interoperable information and communication technologies.

Essentially, IoT is about connectivity and data, and its evolving ecosystem is driven by mobility and convergence. Whether you're a software developer, hardware engineer or tech evangelist, it's up to us to shape the future.

What we want to become, Star Trek or Skynet (Terminator), starts here.

Scaling Software at the Edge

Venture X Dallas by the Galleria

In 2019, the active IoT devices at the Edge was nearing 27 billion. Software at this scale is the challenge we’re going to talk about! To register for this event, go to: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/scaling-software-at-the-edge-tickets-122419174045?utm_source=eventbrite&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=post_old_publish&utm_content=fullLinkOldEmail About this Event As IoT & 5G push computing beyond the geographical and hardware limits of the Cloud, to the Edge, building momentum and expanding over tens of thousands of data centers, including Telco central offices and also container-sized data centers which are popping up all over the United States alone: “The cost of DevOps will grow exponentially in the next decade.” Indeed, automation is great, but the “Dev” part of “DevOps” hints to “lots of bespoke code”; code that needs considerable changes every time there’s a new requirement on the software side. One of the biggest struggles of DevOps today is handling multi-region and multi-cloud use cases. Which raises the question: “If DevOps struggles to scale to few regions, how would it handle the scale of the Edge?” To register for this event, go to: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/scaling-software-at-the-edge-tickets-122419174045?utm_source=eventbrite&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=post_old_publish&utm_content=fullLinkOldEmail During this seminar we will address this very question. Pizza and beverages will be provided. Also join our workshop on the following day: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/workshop-experience-edge-computing-on-the-esp32-tickets-122438122721

AT&T: How IoT Will Utilize 5G to Enable New Use Cases (3rd Frid. IoT SIG Brkfst)

"Evolution to 5G is a lot more than just about the bandwidth. Improved density, reliability and latency are important characteristics of 5G that help realize some new IoT use cases. This talk will cover IoT use cases and the corresponding 5G architecture that realizes these use cases." Sunil Thadani, IoT Platforms and Solutions Bus. Dev. Mgr. at AT&T will present at our Oct. 3rd Friday event. To register to attend in person for this event go to: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/att-how-iot-will-utilize-5g-to-enable-new-use-cases-3rd-fri-iot-sig-mtg-tickets-121852593387 The link to join via the online platform will be published shortly. The 3rd Friday IoT SIG Breakfast is a monthly meeting of Internet of Things (IoT) technologists, business execs and entrepreneurs as well as executives looking for IoT solutions and/or solution providers. This will be a hybrid event. There can be up to 35 people in person in a room that can normally handle 100 people at tables and up to 100 folks online. Come join us at our new location (HEXA Coworking, 2100 N. Greenville Ave. Richardson, TX) and meet other accomplished IoT professionals from all segments of the IoT ecosystem in North Texas (and some from Austin and San Antonio). Each month we have a new presenter focusing on various IoT technologies and applications. Come early and staying late if you can. *** The 3rd Friday IoT SIG Breakfast *** is a monthly meeting of Internet of Things (IoT) technologists, business execs and entrepreneurs. These folks represent all aspects of the IoT ecosystem from end device/sensor makers and edge computing experts to connectivity gurus (both wireless and wired) as well as backend specialists with expertise in computers, cloud, analytic tools, artificial intelligence plus system designers/architects and system integrators, etc. We've been getting together monthly for over 6 years now. We share ideas, learn about new technologies and approaches to IoT, and find needed resources and talent in this community that can help us to build our IoT companies and solutions. Our meetings officially start at 7:40 with 30-second introductions from each attendee and officially ends at 9 am (9:10 or so if we run over a little). However, some folks get there at 7 am when the doors open and some stay after 10 am networking and collaborating with other IoT professionals. We have a different speaker and topic each month. Come join us and be a part of this diverse and growing IoT community. Plan on coming early and staying late. Look forward to seeing you at our next 3rd Friday IoT SIG Breakfast.
