What we're about

For good or bad, the Matrix is coming. The Internet of Things. IoT. What is it and why does it matter?

According to Global Standards Initiative, IoT is the global infrastructure for the information society, enabling advanced services by interconnecting (physical and virtual) things based on existing and evolving interoperable information and communication technologies.

Essentially, IoT is about connectivity and data, and its evolving ecosystem is driven by mobility and convergence. Whether you're a software developer, hardware engineer or tech evangelist, it's up to us to shape the future.

What we want to become, Star Trek or Skynet (Terminator), starts here.

Smart Buildings: as an Asset, as a Service and as a Platform - 3rdFri IoT Brkfst

Come join us in person on Jan. 21st and hear Harry Smeenk, President of Tapa, Inc. and founder of Smart Buildings Online present:

Simply adding IoT devices & technology to a building does not make it a Smart Building.

Producing smart outcomes as part of a building’s digital transformation and technology upgrade strategy requires a full understanding of the entire building’s capability.

Connectivity/Communications, Building Operations, Power & Energy, Sustainability, Safety & Security, and Occupant Services systems must all work together.

The full scope of a building’s intelligence and the return on investing in smart outcomes, can be determined by measuring operational performance and occupant’s quality of experience (QoE).

In this session we will explore what comprises a Smart building and how it becomes the applications platform itself.

- Smart Buildings as a: SERVICE

*** The 3rd Friday IoT Breakfast ***

These are monthly meetings of Internet of Things (IoT) technologists, business execs, entrepreneurs and end users. These folks represent all aspects of the IoT ecosystem from end device/sensor makers and edge computing experts to connectivity gurus (both wireless and wired) as well as backend specialists with expertise in computers, cloud, analytic tools, artificial intelligence plus system designers/architects and system integrators, etc.

We've been getting together monthly for over 7 years now. We share ideas, learn about new technologies and approaches to IoT, and find needed resources and talent in this community that can help us to build our IoT companies and solutions.

Our meetings officially start at 7:30 am CT and at 7:40 we go around the room and hear 30-second introductions from each attendee. The presentation begins at 8 and usually ends at 9 am (9:10 or so if Q&A is lively).

However, some folks get there at 7 am when the doors open and some stay until 10 am or later networking and collaborating with other IoT professionals.

Complementary coffee and bottled water are available. The kitchen has closed due to Covid. However, you're welcome to bring your own breakfast food if you like.

A sincere thanks to our sponsors for their generous support. Checkout their websites below:

3D Printing Homes and Automated Construction Techniques Will Change the World

Come join us and hear how 3D printing, and automating the design and building of houses/ structures is about to become a reality.

Sebin Joseph (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sebinxjoseph/) will present how automated construction techniques like 3D printing (using new concrete mixtures as "ink") combined with innovative design and modeling will create more efficient and creative structures.

His company, Von Perry (www.vonperrybuild.com/), is working to solve the housing crisis with the help of exponential technologies like 3D printing and Digital construction/ Industry 4.0 technologies.

They are pioneers in the construction automation industry. Their first project in Collin County will be the first 3D printed house in the North Texas region.

By changing the way construction is done, they are opening the doors for a new state of the art in building technology solutions. For a more in-depth understanding of Sebin's concepts and plans go to: https://automate.construction/2021/08/26/3d-printed-homes-current-technology-the-future/ .
