Ipswich Tech Drinks – Monthly Meet-up at the Wolsey
Once a month we gather at the Thomas Wolsey for an open, informal tech meet-up. If you enjoy anything to do with technology talking about it, learning about it, experimenting with it, or just being around others who share that interest you’ll fit right in.
Ipswich Tech Drinks is part of the wider Innovate Suffolk community. Our aim is to bring together innovators, makers, and anyone curious about the role technology plays in our lives and work. There are no barriers to joining in: whether you’re a seasoned developer, a start-up founder, a student, or simply tech-curious, you’re welcome.
It’s a relaxed space to share ideas, meet new people, and celebrate the growing tech community here in Ipswich — while keeping our doors open to anyone beyond Suffolk who wants to join.
Where to find us:
We're based at the Thomas Wolsey Pub, in Ipswich, Suffolk. In the winter months, we usually meet in the upstairs room of the pub. During the summer, we sometimes move outdoors or into other parts of the pub. If you’re not sure, just look out for a friendly group of would-be developers (and we’ll keep an eye out for you too!).Nearby Parking
On-Street
There is limited on-street parking around the pub and nearby streets. It’s convenient if you arrive early, but spaces can be taken quickly. In the evenings, many on-street bays are free.
Cromwell Square Car Park
This council-run car park is only a short 5-minute walk from the pub. It’s a surface Pay & Display with around 60 spaces. Tariffs run during the day, but in the evenings it’s very affordable. Payment is easy via cash, card, or MiPermit app. This is the most reliable option if you want something close and straightforward.
Stoke Bridge Car Park
Located just over the bridge towards the waterfront, this larger car park has more capacity if the town centre is busy. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the pub. Evening rates apply. - Ipswich Tech DrinkaboutThomas Wolsey Pub (upstairs), Ipswich
