What we're about

Hamburg GAA is an international mix of people playing the Irish sports hurling, camogie, and Gaelic football. Join any of our meetups and we'll take you through the basics of the sport and give you a chance to try out your new-found skills. We welcome everyone to join us, regardless of sporting history or fitness level. Meet nice people and enjoy great games!

You can sign up here on our Meetup events or also via events on our Facebook page. (https://www.facebook.com/HamburgGAA/)

Relaxed hurling/camogie meetup - Perfect for beginners to the sport!

Hurling (or camogie) has prehistoric origins and has been played for thousand's of years. It is known as the 'fastest game on grass'. The objective of the game is for players to use a wooden stick to move a small leather ball up the field and score by striking the ball under or over the opponents' goalposts. On Tuesday's in Stadtpark, club members and new players come together for a relaxed non-contact session to practice the basics and get used to the sport. A great opportunity to see if it's something you'd like! IMPORTANT!!! Due to Covid-19 regulations, you must RSVP to this event to be able to take part as we need to know how many extra hurleys/sticks (schläger) to bring for you to use. Under all circumstances: • Stay at home if you feel ill or if, in the past 14 days, you have come into contact with anyone who has contracted Covid-19. • Maintain physical distance from others (1.5m). • Continue to adhere to the hygiene rules and guidelines issued by the Robert Koch Institute. • Wash and disinfect your hands thoroughly before and after training. • Do not use or touch your teammate’s equipment We are currently playing non-contact due to Covid-19 regulations.
