May is finally here, and that means it is time to get our paddles wet! I hope these recent warm days have you itching to get on the water. Our first paddle of the season is on Long Lake Creek, starting where the outflow from Long Lake goes under the County G road. It is a relatively short paddle, I think a little under 2 hours. No rapids, but one riffle. We will get out at Oxbo Lake.
You will want to dress for the weather. Don't be shy about wearing a wool hat, and mittens if you think that will be appropriate. The forecast is for a cool, but dry day, partly cloudy. If you have a spray skirt, wear it to hold in the warmth. Paddle boots, if you have them.
We will give the morning a chance to warm up a bit and meet at the landing on County G at 9:30 AM. To reach the landing from Mercer, take County H north from Carow Park 5.2 miles. Turn left onto County G and go 0.5 miles. The landing is on the right, just before the bridge. If you want to carpool from Mercer, we will meet at Carow Park at 9:10 AM.
