Purpose: to promote activities that provide opportunities for attendees to practice English and Italian while connecting with each other and learning about Italian history and culture. We currently have both in person and online activities.

These sessions are designed for Italian language learners at an intermediate proficiency level (B2). You do not need to purchase the book - we will share a digital copy on-screen during the meeting. We will gather in small breakout rooms, where each participant will read a short section of the text in Italian. We will help each other with comprehension, pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.

·OnlineOnlineFor many years, newspapers represented one of the most important sources of information for Italians. Every morning, millions of people would buy a daily paper before going to work or read it at a café over a cup of coffee.
The national press served not only to report the day's events, but also to explain their meaning, offer diverse opinions, and stimulate public debate. Although the internet and social media have profoundly changed the way people stay informed today, newspapers continue to play a fundamental role in Italian society.
In this reading, we will discover, among other things, the origins of the Italian press, the main national daily newspapers, the work of a journalist, and technology's influence. See you there!
Per molti anni, i giornali hanno rappresentato una delle fonti di informazione più importanti per gli italiani. Ogni mattina, milioni di persone acquistavano un quotidiano prima di andare al lavoro oppure lo leggevano al bar davanti a un caffè.
La stampa nazionale non serviva soltanto a raccontare gli eventi del giorno, ma anche a spiegare il loro significato, offrire opinioni diverse e stimolare il dibattito pubblico. Anche se oggi Internet e i social media hanno cambiato profondamente il modo di informarsi, i giornali continuano a svolgere un ruolo fondamentale nella società italiana.

- We will all read the presentation in Italian within smaller groups/breakout rooms.
- We will translate the passages into English.
- We will gather back in the main room to reflect on the reading and discuss our thoughts.
