Italian English Language Social and Cultural Exchange

Join us for an engaging English-Italian reading session exploring work-life balance in four countries: Italy, England, the United States, and Canada. Through the story of Marco, an Italian professional who has lived and worked in London, New York, and Toronto before returning to Florence, we’ll discover how different cultures approach work, leisure, family, and personal well-being. We’ll explore the efficiency of England, the ambition and demanding work culture of the United States, Canada’s emphasis on flexibility and nature, and Italy’s appreciation for food, family, and the quality of everyday life. Come practice your English and Italian, expand your vocabulary, and share your thoughts on what it means to achieve a healthy work-life balance.

The Plan:

1. We will all read the presentation in Italian in smaller groups (breakout rooms).
2. We will then take turns translating the passages into English.
3. Finally, let's gather back in the main room to reflect on the reading and discuss our thoughts.
