Please see the message below from Anke Wessels regarding the Center for Transformative Action's first Annual Finger Lakes Social Entrepreneurship Institute:

Greetings all,

Registration for the Center for Transformative Action's first  Annual Finger Lakes Social Entrepreneurship Institute (Sept 13-15)  ends August 24. Don't miss it! Space is limited. http://www.centerfortransformativeaction.org/SE-Institute.html

Social entrepreneurs are innovative, resourceful change makers, seeking to resolve our society's most pressing social problems. They are doing this by creating thriving social ventures that redefine what for-profit and non-profit mean. They bridge social and ideological differences because they know that listening for shared values, common objectives, and opportunities for mutual benefit help to create local economies that are just, sustainable, and work for everyone.

Does this sound like the work you are doing? Or would like to be doing? Are you working on a new social change venture? Is your existing social change organization going through an important transition? Would you like to learn more about what it means to have equity be the driver for economic growth? Then consider registering for the Institute.http://www.centerfortransformativeaction.org/SE-Institute.html

This Institute will bring together new and experienced social entrepreneurs to share best practices and co-create new possibilities. Using the book “The Business Model Generation” as a guide, you will learn how to reinvent you mission-driven enterprise to have greater social impact while meeting the financial, environmental and social challenges of today. You will leave the Institute with a detailed new business plan and concrete next steps.

Dozens of workshops and panels are being offered--led by experienced social entrepreneurs, inspiring change makers, and leading experts in the field. Workshops will include: how to blend for-profit and non-profit purposes; the power of storytelling;  developing networks for local investing; taking a holistic approach to grant development; transforming habits of being within privileged and marginalized groups; identifying mentors and key partners; achieving financial sustainability and promoting ecological sustainability;  and co-creating inclusive community leadership, all while learning how to use equity as the driver for growth.

Throughout the two and a half days, time will be set aside for you to incorporate what you are learning into your non-profit or for-profit business model, with help and coaching from skilled non-profit and for-profit consultants. Learn more here: http://www.centerfortransformativeaction.org/SE-Institute.html

Our goals are:

To provide practical skills to new and experienced social entrepreneurs to create thriving nonprofit and for-profit social ventures.
To develop a cadre of regional social entrepreneurs with the tools to create diverse, financially sound, and ecologically sustainable ventures that prioritize equity.
To empower people of color, low-income individuals, and young people to become successful social entrepreneurs.
To create a robust, supportive regional network of nonprofit and for-profit social entrepreneurs who are contributing to local, sustainable, and just economies that have equity as the driver for growth.

The Institute will be held on Cornell's campus September 13 and 14, and in downtown Ithaca at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) on September 15.

Space is limited and registration ends August 24. Join us!  http://www.centerfortransformativeaction.org/SE-Institute.html
