What does it mean to design for trust? What responsibilities do we have as designers? How do we build trust with our users, stakeholders, and each other?

Please join us on September 24 to discuss these ideas and more at the first meetup of the newly reformed Interaction Design Association Melbourne chapter.

We will be hearing from two speakers: one from the digital world, where we design products for screens, and one from the wider universe of design, where we design built form, cities, organisations, physical objects, structures, physical products, strategies and more.

Our aim is to connect the digital design community with the broader world of design so we can learn from each other and grow our thinking. We believe in the power of human-centred design and are excited to bring you some incredible talks from inspiring speakers.

This event is generously hosted and sponsored by DiUS, who have offered us their beautiful event space and will also cater some food and drinks.

Please get in touch if you would like to speak at this event or would like to nominate someone else. Talks do not have to be original. Pitch your talk here:

World Interaction Design Day is an annual event where we come together as a united global community to show how interaction design improves the human condition. Our aim is to have a positive, long-lasting impact by facilitating activities that support dialogue and outcomes.

Presented in partnership with Adobe and IxDA, we welcome everyone to contribute by hosting activities for their local communities around the theme for 2019: Trust and Responsibility

IxDA was incorporated in 2005 to address the needs of the then-emergent field of interaction design. In the intervening years, interaction design has grown as a industry and an area of study, at the same time the recognition of its value in the creation of great products has grown.

We were the first community for those interested in the practice of interaction design, and now we are the largest, with over 200 local groups and more than 100,000 individuals globally. We are driven by a passion for design, and a belief that our practice of interaction design can make the world a better place. Through local meetups to global events and initiatives, this community comes together to connect, to advance our professional craft and improve our shared human condition through that effort.

We believe that the human condition is increasingly challenged by poor experiences. IxDA is committed to improving the human condition by advancing the discipline of Interaction Design. To do this, we foster a community of people that choose to come together to support this intention. IxDA relies on individual initiative, contribution, sharing and self-organization as the primary means for us to achieve our goals.

Interaction Design (IxD) is the design of interactive products and services in which a designer’s focus goes beyond the item in development to include the way users will interact with it. Thus, close scrutiny of users’ needs, limitations and contexts, etc. empowers designers to customize output to suit precise demands.
