Our December event is about complete. So save the date! Especially if you may missed the November event.
*This event is standing room only. We will have breaks between each 15-20 minute talk*
We have three talks confirmed.
The FIRST talk is from Duncan Stephen, the User Experience Manager (acting) at the University of Edinburgh. Their team supports departments across the university to undertake user experience initiatives and develop digital strategies.
Duncan's talk will take us through how the University of Edinburgh's User Experience Service has undertaken a comprehensive programme of user research supporting a project aimed at improving students' experience accessing course materials digitally. Find out how they developed a programme of multiple user research methods to understand what students really need.
Our SECOND speaker is Kate McKay, MD and transformation strategist @ Design Sprint Academy Scotland, the new global initiative from Google. We are confirming the details of her talk now.
Hot off the heels from Design Sprint Conference at Google HQ in Colorado, Kate is encouraging Scottish businesses to adopt ‘Design Sprints’ as an effective and fast-track way to validate & derisk digital projects, find the best innovation opportunities and drive organisational change & transformation.
Kate will be giving a lightning talk on the Design Sprint Academy, Design Sprint 3.0 method and Google Design Sprint Chapters.
The THIRD speaker for this event is Carlye Cunniff, an Edinburgh-based design leader, currently leading a team of designers, researchers and engineers at Amazon. With a background in dance and education, Carlye found her way to design non-conventionally. Carlye has worked with start-ups, small teams and large companies as a design consultant, to embed design thinking mechanisms within organizations. She’s currently leading the Amazon design team here in Edinburgh, we’re working on product and service solutions to some of HR’s biggest challenges, at Amazon scale. She also teaches design courses and workshops, both online and in person.
Her talk is entitled: Why Your UX Designer Hates You. Which was not so long ago presented at the DIGIT conference, one talk I enjoyed myself. With this, Carlye takes a look into culture, process and understanding when it comes to a companies take on their design teams.
We will post further refined details here and on social media, including if we have anymore information on content or the event.
One of our new sponsors will be hosting us this month, Amazon.
