Speaker: Charlie Own
Topic: Moving from Jekyll to Hugo
Charlie found that working with Jekyll & Github pages was a lovely zero-cost option back when she didn't want to spend any money on unncecssary thing. But now that she's rich (10€ in the savings account, baby) she's moved on in the world, and is experimenting with Hugo & self-hosted code. She'll tell you about the practicalities and pitfalls of the two systems, and how things have been going since the switch.
Speaker: Olenksandr Tryshchenko
Topic: KISS with Hexo.
We'll discuss how to KISS (Keep it short and simple) with Hexo. I'll share our experience of replacing DB sharding, replication and several layers of caching with the simple static website using Hexo generator. Why it may help you either and why it isn't a silver bullet.
- What are the idea and architecture?
- What can you do with Hexo?
- How to start?
- How to migrate from your previous platform correctly?
- How can you automize some development routines and deployment?
- Which results did we achieve with migration?
Speaker: Benedikt Rötsch
Metalsmith is probably one of the smallest static site generator cores by lines of code. The real power comes with the small learning courve and the plugins provided by the community. This is a brief introduction about Metalsmith and how to use it for simple projects
