This is the first JAMstack meetup in Detroit!

We'll hear about what the JAMstack is and how it can be used. And we'll open the discussions on interesting trends in modern web development techniques.

The talks:

1. JAMstack infrastructure , Nazariy Dumanskyy

In recent years, we have seen a shift in how infrastructures for sites and web apps are built. We have moved away from a coupled structure to a decoupled structure where the front end and back end completely run separately. It’s a new way to deliver better performance, higher security, lower cost of scaling, and a better developer experience.

In this talk, we will cover what is JAMStack, what are some of the use cases for its infrastructure, the tools we can use to build it, and finally, we'll examine the performance and security benefits when going this route.

About Nazariy:
Nazariy Dumanskyy is someone who has been in software development since high school. He started with developing websites for fun, to building web apps, back end APIs, analytics tools, to now building a software agency utilizing all those tools to help businesses solve real-world problems.

Nazariy, on the side, loves helping developers all around the world by running a development Instagram channel and loves dancing Ukrainian folk dancing, ballroom, and breakdance. Not a day goes by without some dancing and software development.

2. JAMstack with WordPress, Amit Rathi

WordPress is a CMS powering over a third of the web. With the power of it's REST API, it is possible to implement a decoupled and headless architecture.

This talk will demonstrate how to setup and use a WordPress site as a back-end for a static front-end. This talk will compare headless WordPress to other solutions, outlining the major advantages and disadvantages.
