Welcome to the official JAMstack-PHX Meetup! So what is "JAM" stack?!
Prepare for an exciting lineup of speakers in the areas of static-site generation (Gatsby.js, NuxT, the modern web ecosystem, web apps, and web hosting and performance solutions. CMSes have been large, bloated monolithic applications that gobble up more and more functionality as they evolve. We will immerse ourselves in various open-source projects which radically attempts to rethink the CMS architecture and creates a publishing engine that works with much simpler decoupled parts and brings much better results in terms of performance, security, scalability and development efficiency.
The JAMstack is not about specific technologies. It’s a new way of building websites and apps that deliver better performance, higher security, lower cost of scaling (serverless), and that makes for both a better developer experience as well as a non-technical content creator experience. No rendering means greatly reduced attack surface area for malware, ultra-fast hosting on CDN, no debugging, PHP (unless you are going to do a headless CMS with a WordPress API) or optimizing render times, and a super cheap way to scale your hosting. Markdown is the language of choice for most static site generators and for documentation. Did you know Markdown can be even more powerful than you realize? For example, you can extend & enhance Markdown files (via serverless) from external sources (including JSON files/Databases).
JAMstack PHX is all about you, the community! Complete newbies, beginners, the non-technical, IT people, WordPress/Joomla, senior developers/engineers, young and young at heart! It's never too late to be a part of this community. We encourage everyone to attend and to feel welcome! We are increasingly looking to power a larger part of tomorrow's internet! All while staying passionate about creating products that are easier to use.
JAMstack uses the most popular frameworks and build-tools today. Go over Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) and modern static sites using Serverless APIs. Learn about best practices and seamless integrations for your workflow with React, Gatsby, Webpack, Hugo and the list goes on and on...
