Subject: Planet D Nonet's South African Township Jazz Project this Friday!

Hi all!   Happy New Year!   May this one be better than the last one!  OK…the first big gig of the year is upon us:
From RJ Spangler:
The Concert of Colors engaged us to perform at the Scarab Club on the 4th of July last summer and was very well received.  Truly a high point for us last summer! on Friday, January 3, The PD9 Township Jazz Project will be at the Detroit Institute of Arts playing from the same book. Expect a lot of heat on the stage. We'll have PD9 regulars Justin Jozwiak, Josh James, James O'Donnell, Ken Ferry, T-bone Paxton and myself augmented by local great Phil Hale, Damon Warmack & Akunda Hollis.     7:00 and 8:30pm   Remember it is FREE if you live in the tri-county area…just show your driver’s lic.
This is a big NTBM show!!!!!   Those who went to the last year’s 4th of July show remember they turned away 100 people that wanted to get in!   This show SMOKED!   Was one of the best local gigs of the entire year!  Bring your seatbelts and fire extinguishers!!!   So come early as I expect this one to “sell out”!
OK pre-dinner is planned for Friday at 5:15pm at Union Street.  I need to know by today-Thursday- at 5pm if you want to come to dinner and the # of people coming…please only let me know if you are a YES for dinner.   (no need to respond if you can’t make it out for this one)
I have had and am having, some severe pain levels…and I may or may not be able to put coats down on chairs to get good seats if I’m still feeling poorly.  I make no guarantees  that I can do this, but will try.   If you want great seats, then you should stop by and lay an old coat or sweater down over at least 2 seats.  I always try and bring 2 extra coats.
Hope to see you there!
Marc Andren
