6-19, Thursday, The GDJS Presents: "Prohibition, Art and All That Jazz" Coach Tour. If you missed our luxury coach tour of Detroit, Prohibition and All That Jazz, it was so much fun that we’re doing it again. Our tour will again be guided by Linda Yellin of Feet On the Street Tours ( We’ll meet for dinner at 4:30 p.m. (sharp!) at Shield’s of Southfield. Following that, we’ll board our coach for a “drive by” of some historic jazz sites. However, for this tour, we’ll have a little less about Prohibition and a little more about art, murals, and a visit to the Red Bull House of Art (a former brewery). On to a tour of the Riverwalk with a stop at the beautiful Rivard Plaza to view the vista of the new waterfront updates. We’ll finish the evening at Bert’s Market Place where Bill Meyer hosts his famous Open Mic Nite with Bill on piano, Gayelynn McKinney on drums and Ralphe Armstrong on bass (approximately 8-11 p.m.). There will be complimentary munchies, fruit and dessert, and a cash bar. Musicians are invited to bring your instruments or join us there for the evening. The coach will then return us to Shield’s in Southfield.
We have already reserved  22 seats – total seats available is 40. The price of the tour will be $50, plus your dinner at Shield’s and drinks at Bert’sShield’s of Southfield, an avid supporter of the GDJS, is also a partner in this event. Your reservation on the tour will include a reservation at Shield’s. Checks are payable to GDJS. Please call our event director, Rosemary Newton, at[masked] to sign up.
