Free Seminar - Faster than the wind - apparent wind and multihulls
If you've ever felt bewildered or astonished by new boats that exceed the wind speed under sail (asking yourself "how do they do THAT?")- it's time for this evening lesson on apparent wind and go fast boats. The focus will be multihulls, and the trimarans and "cats" examined this evening are certainly no dogs. Kim Alfreds knows a fair bit about getting boats to move at amazing speeds. His previous CHEEKEE MONKEE took was the fastest boat around Vancouver Island. Kim was pushing the envelope earlier than most - his boat can be seen with foils many years before anyone thought much about that. He pushed hard, broke a few things and learned lessons that he can share some lessons that are far less expensive for you to learn. We can also learn a little about the next "Monkee" - the 45' all carbon fibre 2CAN Cheekee Monkee arrives in our region just before this session. Destined to put on another show in the race around Vancouver Island, this 45' racing and cruising machine sports foils and a carbon rotating mast. His father started the original JIB SET and he's literally written some of the books on going fast - so grab your spot before it is gone on this evening session. Anyone in the Jib Set Meetup group is welcome to attend and the event is priced for sailors... "the wind is free and so is this session!" As we are heading into that time of the year, we will ask for people to bring something for the VANCOUVER FOOD BANK (non perishable or donation)... let's be good to those who need help.
