What we're about

This is a meetup page for Japan`s International Gamers Guild in the Tokyo/Kanto area--Since 1992, JIGG has been Japan's largest and longest running English speaking and bilingual gaming group. We play roleplaying games, boardgames, CCGs (Collectible Card Games, i.e., Magic) historical simulation games (wargames), miniatures games (including historical miniatures and games by Games Workshop), and traditional games like chess. Regular meetings are organized at least once a month. Just bring your favorite board game and there will definitely be someone willing to try it with you.
Are you visiting Tokyo on vacation/business tip and need a game fix? JIGG Tokyo caters also for you, come play board games in Tokyo with us!

JIGG was started by Steve Brown a.k.a. "STAN" and Kevin Burns a.k.a. "greatpowers" to find gamers and help promote game events in the Tokyo/Kanto area. We welcome new hosts that can schedule game days in the greater Tokyo area. If you would like to host a game day, feel free to contact us.

Minimum requirements for possible candidates are:

• A substantial board game collection of their own 50+ games at least.

• Being able to provide space for a minimum of 20 people in a public location.

• Anyone can join their game day and bring and play any game they like (with exception to games related to gambling).

Make sure you also join the JIGG Tokyo guild on boardgamegeek (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geekguild/view/1103)

Tokyo Game Market - Day One (Saturday)

Tokyo Big Sight Aomi Hall A

The Tokyo Game Market is a huge two day board game marketplace. It's located at the Tokyo Big Sight, Aomi A, B Hall (The location has changed from before) on both SATURDAY and SUNDAY There will be many designers debuting their original games. There are also Japanese publishers selling their newest games. You can also find more than a few imported games, and even some used games. Finally it's also a great chance to pick up card sleeves, extra bits and dice, and other accessories, to add a bit of bling to your game collection. This is a two day event, each day is from 10:00 to 17:00, but some sellers will go home early once they've sold out. Most of the bigger booths with be there both days, but some of the smaller tables will only be there for one day, and a new seller will take their place the next. To attend you will need to either purchase a pass at the door, 1000 yen each day, or buy a catalogue for 2000 yen, good for either day (but not both). The catalogue is available at most Yellow Submarine stores, other game shops, and on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B07Q81F9HX/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AN1VRQENFRJN5&psc=1 The majority of games are in Japanese only, but a few will also include English rules. A lot of tables also have a "play space" where you can take part in a demonstration game. For more information about the market check out their website: http://gamemarket.jp/

Akihabara Game day

Izumibashi Kuminkan

Joins us at our Akihabara game day, the best place to meet same minded friends and game in the most prolific area for board games in Tokyo! Go grab the latest hotness from one of the numerous board game shops in the area representing the amazing Japanese board game scene and bring them over to our venue and play with us! There are several locations in the Akihabara-Kanda-Jinbocho triangle that we can book and host a game day. Our top priority will be to provide space right next to Akihabara station. There are occasions that we wont be able to secure a room there so one of the other equally easy access locations might be were we ll be holding the game day for that month. Attendance fee will be around the usual 300 yen we charge for most of our other locations too, just to cover the room booking fees. Food and drinks are ok in the Akihabara venues but we would kindly like to ask everyone to take all your trash back with you. We ll be delighted to see many of you there, lets make it a good one! ##### caution ##### This is a very busy location and the rooms are usually full. If you want to bring a friend with you that is not on meetup please contact one of the organizers. Please be thoughtful of others and if you cant make it to the game day, change your RSVP status to "not going" to free up a spot for people on the waiting list. Again, the waiting list is not an extended RSVP list. If you are on the waiting list please wait till a spot opens up for you.
