What we're about

This is a meetup page for Japan`s International Gamers Guild in the Tokyo/Kanto area--Since 1992, JIGG has been Japan's largest and longest running English speaking and bilingual gaming group. We play roleplaying games, boardgames, CCGs (Collectible Card Games, i.e., Magic) historical simulation games (wargames), miniatures games (including historical miniatures and games by Games Workshop), and traditional games like chess. Regular meetings are organized at least once a month. Just bring your favorite board game and there will definitely be someone willing to try it with you.
Are you visiting Tokyo on vacation/business tip and need a game fix? JIGG Tokyo caters also for you, come play board games in Tokyo with us!

JIGG was started by Steve Brown a.k.a. "STAN" and Kevin Burns a.k.a. "greatpowers" to find gamers and help promote game events in the Tokyo/Kanto area. We welcome new hosts that can schedule game days in the greater Tokyo area. If you would like to host a game day, feel free to contact us.

Minimum requirements for possible candidates are:

• A substantial board game collection of their own 50+ games at least.

• Being able to provide space for a minimum of 20 people in a public location.

• Anyone can join their game day and bring and play any game they like (with exception to games related to gambling).

Kanda Game day

Kanda-Koen Kuminkan

October and again we can only book 1 slot each day this month. Still join us in this limited time for some real life socializing. We strive to provide a safe environment for everyone, so please: ##### Make sure you read and understand the guidelines below ##### There are several limitations set by Chiyoda ward that has jurisdiction over the community centers we use for our game days. It makes me sad to have to write these guidelines, but if we do not follow them we will not be allowed to book rooms any more. In Japanese here: https://kaikanshisetsu-yoyaku.city.chiyoda.lg.jp/ I am translating the most important ones. 1. We have to provide a full contact list of everyone that attends our event at the end of the day. If you are planing to attend, you will be asked to fill in your name and phone number in a list that will be handed over to the community center secretary. 2. Everyone needs to wear a mask, you will not be allowed by the building security to enter without one. Even if you use your Ninja skills to sneak through the guards, you will not be allowed in the room without one by me. So wear a mask please. 3. We can only book one slot each day, so for now we only have the room from 13:00 to 17:00. You can still bring and play any game you like, but its better if you bring something that doesn't take too long. 4. We can only fill the room at half the nominal capacity, so we have to set an RSVP limit to 20 attendees. The room fee will be the usual 300 yen. No eating is allowed in the rooms any more. If you brought a bottle with something to drink, please don't have it in open view on the tables since don't allow drinks either. For the time being we can hold our usual 2 events in Akihabara/Kanda area following the guidelines mentioned above. I can only assume we will have to provide a contact list till Corona disappears from the Earth, so it might take a while before we see a change to that. With the limited time/attendees we are forced to comply by the ward, managing the RSVPs is going to be a challenging task if demand is the usual 40+ people we get at our Akihabara events. So from now on RSVP and no show is gonna be a serious NO NO, so make sure you change your RSVP status if something comes up and you cannot make the event.

Ofuna Gakushuu Center

Hi all! So. Games. They're nice, aren't they? Let's play some. Please remember: (a) We have to wear masks. (b) Although the room holds 24 people, for now we'll keep it to 12 to allow us to be more distanced. (c) We will eat in a corner or outside the room, but drinking while playing is of course fine and necessary. (d) If you RSVP but then can't come, please change your RSVP status ASAP because space is limited. If you are unwell and have a cough or fever, I'm afraid you can't attend the event. If you have any doubts whatsoever about your health, please err on the side of caution. I appreciate your understanding during this difficult time. There's new aircon in the building so the air temperature and ventilation is good, and it's not so hard to keep masks on. We're in Room 4 this time. Anyway, please keep bringing your own games, as that has been great. Please also have a look at my game collection and let me know if you have any requests: http://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/poshniallo Maps & Directions: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/170032/ofuna-game-day Oh there’s a fee of 300 yen to help pay for the room. Sorry/Thanks.
