Japanese Study Group - Beginner Level (Genki I)

Cathedral of Learning

We will be restarting this group with the textbook Genki I ( 2nd Edition) (http://amzn.to/2kXvKF8) again this fall. We will be using the Genki I Workbook (http://amzn.to/2mcF4p4) for homework and extra study material (Click the names for Amazon links to each). Sometimes it's cheaper to buy these textbooks from Amazon.co.jp provided you have a credit card without foreign transaction fees. The shipping now is surprisingly quick and inexpensive. Here are the links to each there: Genki I textbook (http://amzn.to/2lfbUEU), Genki I workbook (http://amzn.to/2lWiNig). The book assumes knowledge of hiragana (https://www.memrise.com/course/58584/basic-hiragana-1/)and katakana (https://www.memrise.com/course/63113/basic-katakana-1/), but really no other knowledge of Japanese as a prerequisite. If you'd like to study these, I've linked each above to a memrise.com flashcard set where you can learn or practice them.

Japanese Study Group - Upper Beginner Level (Second Half of Genki I)

In this group, we are studying Japanese at an upper beginner level. We started from chapter 8 of the textbook Genki I (2nd Edition) (http://amzn.to/2kXvKF8) at the beginning of the year, and will be using the corresponding workbook (http://amzn.to/2mcF4p4) for homework and extra study material. The goal will be to transition to the second book in the series Genki II (http://amzn.to/2m1TBVl). Some knowledge of basic Japanese will be a helpful foundation for this class.

Japanese Study Group, Intermediate Level (Genki II)

Cathedral of Learning

In this group, we are studying via the textbook Genki II (2nd Edition) (http://amzn.to/2kXsv0D) and the corresponding workbook (http://amzn.to/2mcEkAe) for homework and extra study material. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy these textbooks from Amazon.co.jp provided you have a credit card without foreign transaction fees. The shipping now is surprisingly quick and inexpensive. Here are the links to each there: Genki II textbook (http://amzn.to/2lWjR5K), Genki II workbook (http://amzn.to/2lWlhxm). In the past we had also been also reading the manga series "School Rumble (http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B002CZPJH0?ie=UTF8)" (in Japanese of course), and may return to that given enough interest.

Upper Level Japanese Study Group

Cathedral of Learning

Hi all, I'm hoping to re-introduce the upper level study group. In the past we've gone through intermediate textbooks and the like. For this iteration, I'm thinking we might practice conversation skills. Please sign up if you're interested, and as usual, feel free to stay for this group if you are planning on joining a lower level. Hope to see you guys there!
