The Jacksonville Java User Group(JaxJUG) is a community user group comprised of local Developers and Technology Enthusiasts in the greater Jacksonville area. JaxJUG meetings are held on site at Availity on the second Wednesday of each month. Each monthly meeting features a keynote speaker presenting on current trends and emerging technologies in the development world. Presentations are designed to be educational while promoting open discussion and collaborative brainstorming. JaxJUG exists to add value to members by attracting leading technology professionals to present on innovative development methodologies and technologies.

Java USA Tour 2019 is Coming to Jax!


We thank TEKsystems for hosting this event! Location and hours are now finalized - mark your calendars for Saturday, September 28: JaxJUG is proud and excited to be part of the 2019 Java Tour of US JUGs, by Java Experts and Champions from Brazil. This will be the THIRD visit of the JUGs tour in Jax, following the successful past visits. Bruno Souza and Otávio Santana will travel here following Oracle Code One conference in San Francisco. After providing a brief overview of what cool announcements they heard at Oracle Code One, they will make several presentations (depending on time constraints) covering the following subjects: * Career development * Java skills development * Jakarta EE * No Sql * Cloud * Kafka ** Lunch will be provided by TEKsystems ** About our Speakers Bruno Souza Since 1995, helping Java developers improve their careers and work on cool projects with great people, Bruno Souza is the creator of Code4.Life. Bruno is a Java Developer and Open Source Evangelist at Summa Technologies, and a Cloud Expert at ToolsCloud. Developer communities are a personal passion, and Bruno worked actively with Java, NetBeans, Open Solaris, and many other open source communities. As founder and coordinator of SouJava (The Java Users Society), one of the world’s largest Java User Groups, Bruno leaded the expansion of the Java movement in Brazil. Founder of the Worldwide Java User Groups Community, Bruno helped the creation and organization of hundreds of JUGs worldwide. A Java Developer since the early days, Bruno participated in some of the largest Java projects in Brazil. Bruno is a former Director of the Open Source Initiative (OSI), served as President of the innovation-focused Campus Party Institute, and coordinated Nuvem, the Cloud Computing Lab of LSI/USP. When not in front of a computer, Bruno enjoys time with his family in a little hideout near São Paulo. An amateur in many things — photographer, puppeteer, father — he strives to be good in some of them. He has experience mainly in persistence polyglot and high-performance applications in finances, social media, and e-commerce. Otavio is a member of both Expert Groups and Expert Leader in several JSRs and JCP executive committee. He is working on several Apache and Eclipse Foundation projects such as Apache Tamaya, Eclipse JNoSQL, Eclipse MicroProfile, JakartaEE. A JUG leader and global speaker at JavaOne and Devoxx conferences. Otavio has received recognition for his OSS contributions such as the JCP Outstanding Award, Member of the year and innovative JSR, Duke’s Choice Award, and Java Champion Award, to name a few.
