(20 mins) Richard Monson-Haefel - Java EE is now Jakarta EE: An update on the progress as well as a roadmap for the future of Jakarta EE and how you can become involved in shaping the new Cloud Native Java platform.

(20 mins) Kevin Sutter - Introduction to the MicroProfile programming model for developing microservices in the Enterprise Java environment. We have just finished our fifth and sixth releases -- MicroProfile 1.4 for Java EE 7, and MicroProfile 2.0 for Java EE 8. Learn about how these extensions to the Java EE platform can greatly transform your microservice-based applications.

(20 mins) Liberty Bikes - A small team from the IBM Rochester lab will demo an interactive sample built upon MicroProfile and Java EE using the Open Liberty offering. This is a fun and exciting way to show off these technologies. All of the code is available in public github repos so you can clone, build, and execute the code on your laptop.
