Using traffic classification as a concrete example, we’ll show how we achieved results comparable to LLMs, without the LLM price tag: by batching work so the expensive models run once per pattern, then serving fast classifications in real time with precise, fundamentals-first engineering that dramatically reduced compute costs while keeping latency below a millisecond. It’s a look at what “global scale” really means for engineers and why solid fundamentals are still the most effective tool in the AI era.

🎤 Speaker: Renato Jurišić, Senior Software Engineer @ Infobip

Renato is a Senior Software Engineer at Infobip working on Anam Protect, a solution that helps protect more than a billion mobile subscribers worldwide from fraudulent SMS traffic. His work spans AI classification systems, critical infrastructure, and large-scale fraud detection, and he is often the go-to person in his team for advice on applying AI.
He earned his master’s degree in Computer Science from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb, graduating summa cum laude.
