Virtualizing Java for the Cloud
John Matthew Holt - Waratek CTO
Multitenancy and isolation are key features of a private or public cloud environment. However standard Java presents a problem to cloud environments as it is poorly suited to the current ways in which these features are delivered. This talk will examine this problem and investigate the pros and cons of current solutions.
The session will then look at an exciting new technology that offers to resolve these issues and will examine the technology on how this is achieved. In addition it will look at how 'Java Virtualization' can improve your security and help you cope with legacy code issues. This will be followed by a demonstration of this technology. This session is critical for anyone that is wrestling with large numbers of JVMs. Cool stuff!
John Matthew Holt is the Waratek Founder, CTO and technical driving force behind Waratek’s research and development into distributed computing and virtualization technologies. John has over 50 patents to date with many more pending.
Advanced Java Visualization and Reporting
Mica Block - Technical Director Actuate
Are you a Java developer who wants to add dynamic data driven visualizations to your web application? This session will outline the advantages of Java development using BIRT, the Eclipse-based open source data visualization and reporting tool from the engineers at Actuate. BIRT gives developers an easy to use data visualization framework that includes a drag-n-drop designer as well as open source and commercial deployment options that can be rapidly embedded in any web application. BIRT allows developers to avoid hand coding complex dynamic data visualizations.
Mica Block is an accomplished software developer for many years. He joined Actuate in 1996 and has been working on the BIRT project since its inception in 2004. Mica has specific expertise in report design, internationalization, localization and performance and scalability.
