Deep Dive into PWA

Details
It's another hot summer in the city so go ahead and join us as we take a deep dive into Progressive Web Apps water...
We have 4 great lifeguards (speakers) so jump right in!
PLEASE UPDATE YOUR RSVP IF YOU CAN'T COME!!
Web goes Native: PWAs with Angular - (Shmuela Jacobs)
With Progressive Web Applications we can enjoy both web and mobile-originated features for increasing user experience and engagement.
Let's explore several PWA features and see how Angular and its ecosystem recognizes these needs and helps us "progressify" our apps!
Shmuela Jacobs, a front-end developer, consultant, speaker, and community activist.
She is the founder of ngGirls and organizer of the Angular Nights meetup group.
She became a programmer during her M.Sc studies in Information Management, and has since always combined her passions of coding and teaching.
The Fetch API - (Benjamin Gruenbaum)
Many people know `fetch` as a nicer XMLHttpRequest. The `fetch` API is actually a much lower-level web request API that allows developers to implement some very useful functionality otherwise impossible with XMLHttpRequest. Since these features aren't documented anywhere (yet) - they're worth talking about. :)
Benjamin Gruenbaum, a Node.js Core Collaborator, open source guy and a spec geek. Builds cool things at Peer5.
Room Service (Workers) Please! - (Barak Drechsler)
Service workers, they’re not the irritated staff employees in the hotel you stayed at in your last vacation, they’re actually one the of the sharpest tools in your modern web application Swiss knife!
Let's take a deep dive into the Service Workers API and its concepts!
We will examine the API, explore some real use cases that could leverage it and how they can be implemented, and get a better understanding of the Service Worker spec’s current state and where they it is heading.
Barak Drechsler, a JS zealot, a software engineer at Oath (AOL) Israel, and an enthusiast about the web since 6th-grade when he created his first website.
Working with Data in Service Workers- (Gil Fink)
Service Workers provide an execution context that runs separately from the JavaScript main thread and acts as network proxy. In offline scenarios, combining Service Workers with IndexedDB can help maintain your local application data and, when the network becomes available in the future, it can sync this data to your remote backend.
In this session you will learn about IndexedDB, how to use it, and how to incorporate it in your Service Workers to store data when offline.
Gil Fink, a web development expert, Micrsoft MVP, and sparXys CEO. Currently consulting for various enterprise companies, helping them develop web and RIA-based solutions. He conducts lectures and workshops for individuals and enterprises who want to specialize in infrastructure and web development. He is also a co-author of several Microsoft Official Courses (MOCs) and training kits, co-author of "Pro Single Page Application Development" book (Apress) and co-organizer of GDG Rashlatz meetup and AngularUP conference.
