Silent Sitting Mediation \ Book Study
Please join us for Silent Sitting Meditation from 9:30-10:00am. Saturday morning’s session is informal meditation scheduled before our new book study. Please have a seat and meditate for 15-30 minutes whatever you feel comfortable . At 10:00am we will be starting our book study on His Holiness Ogyen Trinley Dorje's Interconnected: Embracing Life in Our Global Society. "Plucked from a humble nomad family to become the leader of one of Tibet’s oldest Buddhist lineages, the young Seventeenth Karmapa draws on timeless values to create an urgent ethic for today’s global community." Your are always welcome to stay after for our tradition chanting practice. A member of our center will be available for questions if you’ve never practiced before. Our practices are open to beginners and advanced practitioners alike and are free of charge. We ask that you remove shoes before entering the shrine room. Most attendees don't find us through the meetup, so even if nobody else RSVPs here you won't be the only one at the session. While our classes are free it is always appreciated if you are able to make a small donation to help support the center.

What we're about

Public Group

We are a Tibetan Buddhist sangha and the purpose of the meetup is to provide a forum for people to come into contact with the Dharma and meditation practice. Our Tuesday and Wednesday sessions are geared towards curious folks who have never stepped into a Buddhist temple, though we also draw experienced practitioners who have been doing this for decades. It's usually a lively mix and everyone is welcome. We ask that first-timers arrive a few minutes early for a quick orientation before practice begins.
