What we're about

Genuine People, Spirited Conversations

Join Kyle Potter and Brandon Brown for conversations about faith and American life that you’ll find exciting and interesting - and maybe awkward, transgressive, irreligious, or freeing. Your curiosity about life, faith, truth, or God are welcome. We have more questions than answers, but we would love to listen and explore together. We’re committed to matching our passion and often spirited disagreement with respectful conversation.

2nd Tues of each month: Waukesha at Bernie’s Tap Room, 8pm

Reclaiming Jesus: Toxic Faith!

Von Trier

Our topic for May 7 is toxic faith! One significant obstacle to judging the merit of a spiritual practice is the ambiguity of the results. All religious traditions - even atheism - seem to form their share of assholes and of saints and mystics. How can faith have such varied results? How can something so powerful and life-giving for some people create destruction and pain in others? How can you identify toxic faith in people and organizations and protect yourself from it? Join us to share your stories and perspectives, starting at 8pm!

Magellan’s On Main Street

Our topic for May 14 is s o c i a l c o n t r o l In faith, politics, family life, or anywhere people come together, there are always folks who try to exercise control over others. Sometimes hierarchies rule through direct intimidation, but more often they use racist or sexist microaggressions or gaslighting. How might someone spot those things? What can be done about them? Could I be part of the problem? What do those words mean, anyway? Join us to share your stories and perspectives at Von Trier, starting at 8pm!
