Wallyball (Indoor Volleyball) For all levels: Every Tuesday

What: Join Mosaic for our weekly evening of open Wallyball. All skill levels are welcomed to play. Wallyball is volleyball played indoors, inside a racquetball court. A soft, spongy ball is used, and the ball stays in play when it hits the wall, so even beginners can have a good time. Play for a few hours, then the night owls might head to the nearest “watering hole” for some liquid refreshments and snacks.

Where: David Posnack Jewish Community Center, 5850 Pine Island Road, Davie. [masked].

When: We play Wallyball every Tuesday, from 8:00 to 10:30 p.m. All levels welcome. Drills and instruction will be provided for players new to the game.

Directions: Take I-95 to Stirling Road in Hollywood, and go west, a half mile past University Drive, to Pine Island Road. The JCC is at the corner of Pine Island Road and Stirling Road, on the right (north) side.

Bring: Sneakers to play in and a clean shirt for afterwards.

Cost: $5 members, $10 non-members. Please bring exact change.

Contact: No RSVP required. Just show up. For more information call Richard Feinberg at[masked] or Gustavo Goren at[masked]

Relay for Life

Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society

Age Group: Adults & Families

This year, for the very first time, Mosaic will be sponsoring teams for two different Relays for Life. The first one will be in East Boca, at Mizner Park on April 27 to 28, 2013. The next one will be the Jewish Relay for Life, at the Posnack JCC in Davie, May 4 to 5, 2013.

This year, as a Mosaic member or friend, you will have the opportunity to participate in either one or both. We hope that everyone will participate in one way or another; either by joining a team, by making a donation in support of a team, or by attending the celebration at the event itself.

Relay for Life is an event celebrating cancer survivorship. It is the nationwide signature event for the American Cancer Society and the single largest non-profit event in the world. During the event, the team will have at least one member walking or running around the track at all times. The event starts on Saturday evening and continues thru the night.

Everyone knows someone, generally many people, who have been touched by cancer. By participating in a Relay For Life event, Mosaic has the opportunity to inspire hope by raising funds and awareness, and to help those facing the disease. We hope you will join us!

At each Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society will also be honoring cancer survivors of all ages, and their caregivers, in the opening ceremony with a Victory Lap. Even if you are not joining the team, if you are or know of a cancer survivor, please join in the opening ceremonies. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Choose Your Relay for Life Team:
Again, we encourage everyone to join a team, and this year you can choose between two teams, or join both;

1) The East Boca Relay for Life, at Mizner Park on April 27 to 28, 2013. Mosaic has a very strong connection to this Relay. We have been participating in it for many years. Mosaic member Rob Blum, who has chaired this Relay for several years, is now the Chair of S. Palm Beach Unit of ACS. Mosaic member Melanie Tolchin is this year’s chair for the East Boca Relay. Long-time members Ira Aronowitz and Paula Randall are the event’s Publicity Chairs. Mosaic member Adena Paroly is the Mosaic Team Captain. Please consider joining this team. For more information, contact Adena Paroly at[masked] or [masked] To join this team, visit http://main.acsevents.org/goto/mosaic

2) The Jewish Relay for Life, at the Posnack JCC in Davie will be a very special Relay for Life, in that all (or most) of the organizations that sponsor teams will be Jewish organizations. This is your chance to bond with fellow members of the Jewish community, and may be more centrally located for you. Rick Dronsky and Richard Moses are Team Captains, and we are looking for others. Please consider joining this team.
