Digging through data with regular expressions

Come join us for the first ever Journocoders Dublin meet up where we are going to be getting to grips with regular expressions - no programming experience necessary.

We will be covering how to use this power-tool to search, transform, and clean data.

Regular expressions act as an advanced search tool. Want to find all the eircodes in a text file? All the names starting with Fran (Frank, Frances, Francis, Frankie)? All the numbers that follow the pattern of mobile phone numbers? Regex allows you to do these with ease.
This is a practical hands on tutorial so just bring a laptop
